You are bidding on a 1970 VW Squareback.  Clementine (color code) with black interior.  This car was bought new in November of 1969 as a new ‘70 year’s model, and its original owner kept it until his death, last year in 2020.  I bought this car from the realtor who had to buy the house with its garage contents.  The car had been sitting for the last 40 years, untouched, since 1981, the last time it was registered for road use.
After pulling it out of the garage, we addressed the fuel system.  The owner had emptied the gas tank before storing it. However, we installed a new fuel pump and fuel lines and new injectors.  It started right up.  The same was done to the brakes.  A new master cylinder was mounted along with new front calipers and rear brake wheel cylinders, brake pads, brake lines and hoses on all 4 corners.  The wheels were powder coated with upgraded tires and an oil/filter change was done.  The battery was the original one and had to be replaced as well.  The battery tray is mint.
The car has 26,228 original, documented miles.  It comes with the original spare, its jack and tool pouch, the owner’s manual, the dealer envelope with all the invoices since new.  This car is pretty much an original car, a sort of time capsule. This is a driver, in its original form.  You can see the dealer sticker still attached to the back side window!
The car has some rust (see pics and video) but its structure is very solid.  The floors are original and solid as well. The paint (clementine) is mostly original except for a few scattered spots throughout, where the owner, amateurishly, sprayed it the original color to keep it tidy throughout the years.  The car has also many scratches and blemishes and a few small dents.
The engine runs strong, the manual clutch works as it should and the gears are all shifting perfectly.  Headlights, blinkers, backup lights, warning lights and dashboard lights are all present and function as they should, as well as the original radio and windshield wipers.  The horn works intermittently, probably needing connections to be cleaned.  The car comes with its Michigan title in my name and the original dog dish hubcaps.
