Antique Ban Chiang Clay Spindle Beads. Set of Three (3) Assorted Beads.
    Description:
Rare, Ancient Ban Chiang Clay Bead: Simplistic art form, symmetrically hand-crafted in a spindle whorled form, with harmonious balance and beauty. These three works of art were acquired in the Udon Thani province of northeast Thailand, where a number of clay pottery, etched agate beads, and bronze ritual objects have been discovered. Ban Chiang in Udon Thani province is the remains of a pre-historic settlement, situated on a hillside, surrounded by lowlands, and safe from the flooding, which occures during Thailand's rainy season, located approximately 50 kilometers east of modern day Udon Thani city.
These hand-moulded clay beads, of natural earthen colour, were crafted by artistic hands and kiln fired at a low temperature. Each clay bead measures at approximately 33mm in diameter. Overall condition is aesthetically excellent - small chips, corrosion, and pitting are a normal part of the beads patina, attesting to its age and extensive use.
